Google Webmaster Guidelines Change on August 03, 2013 at 06:24AM

Today Google added this video to their Webmaster Guidelines.

This isn't a newly produced video, unique for this page, but was uploaded to YouTube on June 25, 2012. The video outlines three specific violations of Google guidelines: syndicated content, thin affiliates and doorway websites. Why focus in these three issues? What makes these items so special that merits calling the out on a page that is theoretically an introduction to managing a website? I men, I'm sure you've experienced SEO noobs whose first thoughts are to try to trick Google with hidden text or something like that but these three topics seem pretty advanced for an introductory page. Since this is the summer of SEO updates, could this be the next target for algo updates? Conspiracists will, as usual, interpret this as a red herring: with Google trying to trick people out of doing things that work or distract them from building links by focusing their recommendations on page content.
